Sustainability

At Fruitful Office, sustainability isn’t about big promises. It’s about the choices we make every day. Less packaging, less emissions, fewer kilometres, and less waste. More of that less. That’s why our fruit doesn’t just taste great and feel healthy – it feels good too.

Our mission

We sink our teeth into what really matters: a healthy workplace and a healthy planet. That’s why we deliver smart, source locally, and give fruit a second life instead of letting it go to waste. Our goal? Remove waste from the chain altogether and step by step become climate neutral.

Because for us, sustainability isn’t a side issue. It’s at the core of everything we do. And social impact is naturally part of that. More opportunities for people, more trees growing, more healthy choices at work. Together, bite by bite, we build a future that tastes good and feels even better.

Together we make the difference

Grown green

Our mission starts at the source. We buy as much as possible locally, directly from growers. That saves kilometres and keeps fruit extra fresh. More than half of our fruit already carries top certifications such as PlanetProof.

Less plastic

We cut waste from the chain wherever we can. Growers are increasingly packing fruit in reusable or sustainable bags. In 2024 alone, this saved more than 6,500 kilos of plastic.

Smart logistics

Every kilometre counts. More than half of our routes are already emission-free. We plan smart, drive the shortest routes, and deliver in crates that last forever.

Zero waste

Not a single piece of fruit is thrown away. Leftovers go to schools and food banks. Anything no longer edible is turned into compost or green energy.

More trees

For every three fruit crates we deliver, we plant one tree in Malawi. So with every delivery, not only do healthy office habits grow, but new forests too – capturing CO₂ and creating income for local families.

Social sustainability

Sustainability for us is also about people. Over 15% of our team faces barriers to the labour market. We are a certified Social Enterprise, PSO step 3 certified, and socially recognised by more than 35 municipalities in the Netherlands.

Frequently asked questions about sustainability of our fruit

Why is office fruit from Fruitful Office sustainable?

We deliver smart, local, and without unnecessary packaging. More than half of our routes are already emission-free, and for every three crates we plant a tree. That way, you combine healthy eating at work with real impact.

What happens to leftover fruit?

Not a single piece goes to waste. We donate surplus fruit to schools and food banks. Anything no longer edible is turned into compost or green energy.

What makes Fruitful Office a socially sustainable choice?

Over 15% of our team faces barriers to the labour market. We are a recognised Social Enterprise, PSO step 3 certified, and socially acknowledged by 35+ municipalities. With our fruit, your workplace also makes a social impact.

Is your fruit really local and seasonal?

Yes. We source as much as possible directly from the grower. That saves transport kilometres and keeps fruit extra fresh. More than half of our fruit carries a top sustainability label such as PlanetProof or Rainforest Alliance.

What does your social recognition by municipalities mean?

We are now socially recognised by more than 35 municipalities, including Amsterdam, Haaglanden, Rijnmond, and Midden-Holland Centraal. This means our invoices count towards SROI targets (Social Return on Investment). So by choosing Fruitful Office, you not only bring healthy fruit to your colleagues but also contribute to your municipality’s social goals.

Are you plastic-free?

Yes. We don’t use plastic in our products. Our crates last indefinitely, and more and more fruit is packed directly at the grower’s in reusable or sustainable bags. In 2024 alone, we removed over 6,500 kilos of plastic from the chain.

Do you deliver fruit electrically?

Yes. More than half of our deliveries are already fully electric. This saves thousands of kilometres of emissions each year. Our goal: step by step towards a fleet that is 100% electric and emission-free.
